AMBER is our popular software package for MBE process control. It can be installed on any MBE system from any manufacturer (or homebuilt system) and is extremely flexible and capable offering capabilities not available in other software.
Most users find that all the functionality needed for even very sophisticated growth recipes is already available within AMBER. However, knowing that every need cannot be anticipated, AMBER is built using a modular architecture allowing easy addition of new or unique capabilities without having to modify the underlying software. The code that communicates with external instruments such as pressure gauges, mass flow controllers, pyrometers, ellipsometers, etc. is contained in software objects that handle the communications as well as the configuration for that instrument. These simple self contained instrument drivers can be written directly by the end user in LabVIEW from our simple templates. Even more elaborate extensions can be written to AMBER called plug-ins with their own GUI that provide nearly infinite flexibility through its modular architecture. The code that communicates with external instruments such as pressure gauges, mass flow controllers, pyrometers, ellipsometers, is contained in software objects that handle the communications as well as the configuration for that instrument. These instrument objects are separate from the main program and additional instruments can be added easily. The configuration of these new instruments is then automatically handled through the user friendly configuration GUI of AMBER.
